Is anyone else sick and tired of the plain old white or gray bathrooms? It has been so hegemonic that one can hardly never think of a bathroom in any other colour! Well, in my days as an interior designer I can say for sure that the best bathrooms I have seen have not been white at all.
Don’t be afraid to get creative and try something new! I have some amazing bathrooms in every colour, even green and pink. It really speaks to the favour of the house and lets people know that they are not in some normal, everyday house.
If I could suggest something to new homeowners, I would say to try out wood as a base and then go from there. It makes shower floors and walls look amazing and gives a rustic and unique look to something that is oftentimes made out of porcelain. You can easily find vanities or sinks to match this wood look, and can really blend it in with the rest of the home.
The wood look is also very inexpensive compared to the alternatives and can be made into a fun DIY project (although I seriously recommend not trying to do the plumbing part yourselves). If you are someone who likes to use tools and build things, try out making a shower with a wood floor and tall glass doors. It is a fun challenge and I have seen some people in my day make some amazing looking showers in just a few days with all sorts of budgets.
Be sure to also include warm lights in your bathroom no matter the color. A lot of times I see bathrooms that are way too bright, and no one really needs bright ceiling lights in bathrooms. Most of the time people prefer to use brighter lights around mirrors, which creates a much cooler look in my opinion.
